Financing your studies: If you need financial support There are many ways of financing studies: employment, cantonal scholarships, private loans or simply family support. The Swiss scholarship and loan system is federally organised and therefore seems confusing to many. On the one hand, the Advice Center for Study Funding provides information about all these financing options - in person, by telephone or also by E-Mail. On the other hand, the University of St.Gallen has a loans and scholarships fund that provides financial support to enrolled students in the Assessment Year, at the Bachelor's and Master's levels. In addition, there are numerous other public and private bodies that award educational grants. You will find a scholarship and loans database on our website. Financial aid applications must be submitted to our Student Financial Aid Office with all required documentation. The application forms can be downloaded via Compass. The application deadline for a scholarship and loan application is 1st March (spring semester) and 1st October (autumn semester). Support with questions about the IT infrastructure and tools We have created a special contact point to provide support for our students: the PC tutors. If you have problems with the public PCs, the scanners or printers or the university's own software applications, you can contact the PC tutors either personally via MS Teams or by e-mail. You can find the most common problems and their solutions here or directly in the knowledge database in StudentWeb (HSG Login required). Are there computer rooms on campus? During the autumn semester, we also offer an introductory course to the Microsoft Office applications Word, PowerPoint and Excel. Participants receive a detailed introduction to the most important functions and best practices in using these programmes. Various additional services are also available for a fee. Some training sessions have a limited number of places. Student Union (SHSG) The Student Union (SHSG) is an official body of the University of St.Gallen and actively contributes to its development. It is the umbrella organisation for all student activities at the HSG. Its central tasks are to maintain the coordination of student activities, to facilitate the flow of information, and to provide advice and support. In addition, it fulfills other important functions and accompanies student initiatives in the planning and implementation of projects. The SHSG is based on voluntary student engagement and distributes this commitment through two channels: Representation of interests (sitting on all important university committees) and services for students. These include the catering businesses [ad]hoc, MeetingPoint and theCO Café, the relaxation room, the student newspaper "prisma" and the International Department with its diverse projects. In addition to representing the student position in the HSG's committees and commissions, the representation of interests includes many other activities such as free legal and appeal advice. Student Clubs At the HSG, more than half of all students are involved in one of our almost 120 student clubs or in an academic sorority alongside their studies. There are no limits to your individual interests thanks to the wide range of activities on offer. In this way, you can find a balance to everyday university life, pursue your own goals and invest energy in an organisation that you support and shape with full passion.
