Wage Compensation
The wage compensation ("EO") covers part of the income a conscript could have received during service periods. Taxes and duties have to be paid. If you are employed, at least the amount of the compensation, depending on your contract and union coverage possibly more, has to be disbursed to you by your employer. Unemployed conscripts receive the statutory minimum amount directly from their federal pension and disability insurance agency ("AHV-Ersatzkasse").
Procedure
At regular intervals during a service and by its end a "report card" is issued. This card is to be completed and sent to:

Usually, the wage to compensate is assumed equal to the wage earned shortly before beginning the service period. This assumption can be overthrown, if during the service the conscript:
- would have worked more than assumed (e.g. services during semester break: he could have upped his job to full time)
- could have reported for a new job (e.g. service period shortly after finishing of study: a job could only be taken after said period)
The fact that a higher wage is to be assumed as well as its amount are to be substantiated by the conscript (e.g. employer testimony or diploma) for the appropriate agency.
Pay
To compensate the service to the public good, each service day a rank depending pay earned. Neither taxes nor duties are owed.
